This blog is a central location for all aspects of the master plan for our home. I have categorized all of the photos I have collected for many years, explaining why I have chosen certain homes, rooms, gardens, furnishings, etc. The clutter of magazines and books, and trying to convey the same thoughts to various different people was difficult. The hope is to clarify our ideas in quick reference pages, so that the professionals helping us will fully understand what we are trying to accomplish.

Guest House/Guest room Ideas
This is our current Guest House/Pool House. The architecture of the new house is definitely following the design of this building. It is one of the reasons we bought the house. We love the all stone exterior and the jack arches. It was built in 1997?, so it needs some updating and we would like to add to the interior finishes eventually.
The roof will most likely convert to the green slate we used on the kids' play house. We will replace the damaged beams with more rustic cedar or something similar, and stain them the same color as the brown trim on the playhouse. These upgrades will most likely happen when we tackle the pool and patio improvements, so it could be a while.
On the interior, I would like to have a similar feel to the main house. I am thinking kind of a Kellogg Collection look with a rustic casual twist. I would consider doing Sunbrella fabrics and cushions so that it would not be a problem for kids and bathing suits to clash with the furnishings.
Murphy bed idea....
I have been looking for this photo forever. It was what originally inspired me to do an upholstered bed for Grant's nursery. I love the toile, of course, and the consistency of the bed, wallpaper and furniture. It makes for a restful spot. Also the interesting ceilings.
