Master Bedroom

Our master bedroom has a great balcony surrounded by Zelcova tree branches. We thought it had great potential when we bought the home, provided our renovation could address the ceiling height and give us more bedroom space, more closet space, and a beautiful bathroom..

The space is tight right now, but the new floor plan should fix this, as well as a provide more elegant and private entrance from the main hallway.

Things we are contemplating....
  1. Rug- currently a sisal look Karastan wool replaced last year.
  2. Wall treatment -not sure if we would consider a wallpaper
  3. Ceiling treatment- some beams or exposed trusses, vaulted it possible.
  4. Balcony area - We may extend the roof over about half of the balcony to protect the furniture a bit. I have looked at an outdoor synthetic sisal rug with a blue printed medallion from Frontgate. Furniture might be a cafe table for two and a double chaise.
  5. Interior storage for bed pillows during the day. Maybe a built-in drawer to throw the night pillows.
  6. Round tables vs. chests beside bed
  7. Bathroom decor tying to blue and white toile

Photo from the master bedroom of our previous home.

We want to keep the blue and white toile bedding and drapery. I had picked out several Jack Arnold/Charles Faudree bedrooms over the years and the blue and white toile is something I always notice. I love the linen print fabric on the english tufted chairs.

This has been one of my favorite bedroom pictures for years. I love the library shelving and exposed beam work. I think the canopy is stunning, but the fabric is not what we want. We are going to stick with our blue and white toile.

This is a Jack Arnold bedroom. I like the open vaulted ceiling and beams as well as the chandelier hanging. We have a chandelier we will be hanging in our room.

This is the chandelier we will hang in the bedroom. It is 37"w x 32" tall

This bedroom has beautiful subtle details in the ceiling treatment and the way that the sitting area is tucked into a wall cutout. I like the size of the space too....not too large.

This is Cindy Crawford's Malibu bedroom. I love the ceiling and the mixture of rustic and traditional features. Also, I like that it has masculine and feminine aspects.

This is just another version of a ceiling. Our bed and the potential fireplace position would look similar. The also used the Tivoli Lanterns from Currey that we have designated for our staircase tower.

Example of cabinetry and TV on wall opposite bed.

Below are photos of a Dennis & Leen writing desk that I thought would be great in this bedroom. I love the shape, the finish, and the size.

This is a paneling and sconce idea that I thought would lend itself to our room somewhere. Maybe in the transition hallway into the Master.
