Boys' Bedrooms and Bath

NOTE: There are to be no doors or openings less that 30" in the entire house. The 24" doors and openings on the current plan will all be increased in size to at least 30", if not 36" in some locations.

The boys have similar color schemes, rugs, and window treatments. This is a photo of our son's room in the old house. The entire room had beadboard trim, and there were great knee wall closets, typical in Capes, on the front dormer wall.
In the new plan, they will each have their own room, but it will be joined by a large bathroom.

The entrance into each room will feature a focal point of a bed, window seat, or possibly some other type of built-in feature. There will be one entrance from each bedroom that will gain access to the shared bath, a private closet, and a pass thru into the laundry room.

The layout will separate the bedrooms and the sinks, so that there will be little disturbance to one if the other one is making noise.

This photo shows a great built-in idea that I have held onto for years, picturing our kids' rooms with architectural interest like this, rather than the straight "box" drywall room with 8' ceilings seen typically.

We recently moved Scott to Grant's upholstered full size bed. Grant got a new Queen size mattress and this is the bed we bought for him.

This is a photo I have searched for that had been misfiled. I'd like the boys' shared bath to have vanities similar to this photo.
