Grass Play Area Project

Our yard is large, but has a pretty significant slope to it. Aside from that, we learned from an elderly neighbor that it was used as a field to park cars for C0ngressional prior to selling the property to Avenel, and then having a home built on it in 1986. We suspect that the property was never properly graded. The yard is filled with ruts and divets that make it very uneven for mowing, and not very safe for play.

Our plan was to level our an area to create a grass terrace, but maintain a natural curve along the far edge, which would roll off gently down the hill. Simultaneously, we wanted to smooth out divets in any other areas of the back yard that needed to be addressed. This was not done due to the stop work order, but would have only required minimal dirt to spot fill ruts and divets.

The goal was to have a pristine, safe lawn that would be easier to maintain, as well as use for sports and enetertaining.

Before: rolling hill all the way down to the willows.

After: Grass terrace with rolling drop-off invisible from this angle.

After: Side view of grass hill.

After:View from rear property line showing grass terrace and hill rolling off before the willows. Water is actually slowed down on our property now before draining into public drains.

**Not one bit of soil left our property during the two days of construction. One day of importing soil and grading, one day of laying sod.
